Have been pretty busy working on the lux at nights in the shed (only chance i get to work on it).
So after quite a bit of chopping, grinding and bashing i have succesfully fitted 285/75 Kumho kl71's to the lux with only 2 1/2 inch of lift!!
I didn't even bother flexing the new tyres up to see what needed cutting as i have read enough and seen enough on this forum to know how much i had to do.. and even more so because i probably have less lift than anyone else on here that has fitted 285's.
I think the Patrol rim offset and my stiff suspension has made it possible.
Here's what i did.....
Bent back the ARB bar splash guards.. I will get some rubber sheet to fill in the space
Trimed the inside of the flare, cut out that small section of the guards, cut the bottom bit of pinch weld off and bash flat about 150mm of it (could of gone a bit higher).
Looks like i was carrying around a few of Tassie's Noxious weeds, not to mention the 3 inch thick slush from half of Victorias state parks..
Copied Amitch's great idea of cutting a 'V' out of the bodymount than bashing it back in and rewelding (although maybe not as neat as Amitch
)
I could of taken maybe another 5mm of the bodymount and gone further back with it but seems good enough.
Welded back on (bit rough). I stupidly left the rubber mount on when welding and it got pretty smoky and soft
You live and learn.
A lick of Killrust, I also coated all the pinchweld and any other exposed cuts with some Hydroseal.
